FRP/GRP Rebar
FRP/GRP Rebar is a structural reinforcing rod made by spiral wrapping fiberglass roving with resin. This composite material, made by combining resin as the matrix with glass fiber reinforcement, offers several advantages over traditional steel rebar. It is lightweight, highly durable, and resistant to corrosion, making it an ideal solution for reinforcing concrete structures, especially in environments prone to harsh conditions like marine or chemical exposure. The use of FRP Rebar improves the longevity and performance of structures while reducing maintenance costs.
Product Introduction
FRP/GRP Rebar is a high-performance, corrosion-resistant reinforcing material made from fiberglass roving and resin, commonly produced through the pultrusion process. This composite material combines the strength of glass fibers with the durability of resin to create a reinforcement solution ideal for applications in harsh environments, such as in construction, infrastructure, and marine industries.
The manufacturing process involves pulling continuous glass fiber strands through a resin bath, followed by curing and forming them into a solid, continuous rebar shape. The result is a lightweight yet extremely strong rebar that offers excellent resistance to corrosion, chemical exposure, and environmental wear, which makes it a superior alternative to traditional steel rebar.

Key benefits of FRP/GRP Rebar
- Corrosion Resistance: Unlike steel, FRP/GRP Rebar will not rust or corrode over time, making it ideal for use in concrete exposed to moisture, salts, or chemicals.
- High Strength-to-Weight Ratio: FRP rebar is significantly lighter than steel, which makes handling and installation easier while maintaining strength and durability.
- Electrical and Thermal Insulation: FRP/GRP Rebar does not conduct electricity or heat, which is particularly advantageous in specialized industrial applications.
- Longevity: With excellent resistance to corrosion, the lifespan of structures reinforced with FRP/GRP Rebar is significantly extended, reducing long-term maintenance costs.
- Environmentally Friendly: The production of FRP/GRP Rebar is more eco-friendly compared to traditional steel rebar, and it is fully recyclable at the end of its service life.

Application
FRP rebar is widely used in various new construction projects, including transportation infrastructure, rail systems (LRT), runways, IT and research facilities, mining and tunneling, buildings, and waterside concrete structures like retaining walls and sea walls. It is an ideal non-conductive and non-magnetic material for medical and scientific facilities. Moreover, its use helps reduce maintenance costs, which are often significantly higher when using traditional concrete reinforcement bars.
